Spring Decor! Moss Initial and Cloche Dish Upcycle.

Hello bloggers, I hope all is well and that everyone is having a wonderful weekend! Mine has been pretty relaxing so far. It's nice to have a whole saturday to just relax and work on projects around the house. It's finally starting to look and feel like Spring around here. The free Saturday and warm weather inspired me to do a couple of DIY projects this afternoon. :)









Total cost for this project.

1.00 for the bag of moss from The Dollar Tree (of which I only used a fraction of it) this stuff will last me awhile.
1.99 for the letter from Hobbly Lobby

=2.99 total to make this mossy letter, I think it turned out great!

This next project was inspired by these little guys. The next two pictures are of my wreath on our front door. A momma bird made her nest there and there are four tiny eggs in it! I just discovered it yesterday. I don't normally use the front door because I always drive into the garage and go inside that way. But I was picking up some trash in our yard and near the front door and noticed a bird fly away from where my wreath is. I went up to the door and peeked inside and it was there! What a pleasant surprise! I told my hubby that when we do use the front door, that we need to be really careful when opening and closing it. I can't wait til we have some babies in there! :)

Latest Projects

So it has been over a MONTH since I've last made a post. I wish I had more time to do this but school has definitely picked up the pace and between that work and church there is hardly enough time to do much else. I did however squeeze some time in a couple of weeks ago to scout out new treasures. We were having friends over for dinner a couple of weeks ago on a friday and I had the day off to finish cleaning and running last minute errands. I decided to check out a couple estate sales and my favorite thrift store. I definitely scored some great stuff, for really cheap too! I LOVE estate sales!


The first picture is a little blurry but I got everything pictured here for only 19.75! So proud of my findings. I have been searching and searching for mason jars and found so many on this outing! Including the big Ball jar which I took home for only .20 cents! Also, I've been looking for burlap as well and I got these 4 burlap sacks for 50 cents each! Annnnd I've wanted a watering can for quite some time! So I got to check all those things off my wish list...super exciting! The side table was a bonus find, it was only 4.50. I love it when I find sturdy and CHEAP pieces of furniture. Can't wait to refinish it! :)







Some of the things I did with my new goodies! This is my new spring centerpiece. :) I just love me some fresh daisies! I wish I could say that I brought these in from my garden, but no, the local grocery store works just the same. :)







And lastly, my most recent DIY project. This is an old window circa 1930's that I acquired from some really generous lady. I was given this one along with many others. This being the only large one I got, I wanted to do something cool with it.

I love spring! Can you find mr. birdie in this picture? This is our tree in the front yard..it only bloomed for a couple weeks :( But it sure was pretty!

I Heart Mod Podge!

So I finally made an effort to go out to the store and purchase some Mod Podge. I had a few projects that have been put to side because I did not have any, but now I do, and I LOVE it! I've been wanting to make some coasters for quite some time and found this really easy tutorial here at Two Girls...Being Crafty. It uses ceramic tiles, mod podge, and some felt. I used some cute critter scrapbook paper but you could definitely use photos, sheet music, book pages, old cards, etc... What an easy, cute, and inexpensive project to make to give as a gift or for yourself! I'm sure I will be making many more, experimenting with different kinds of paper materials.












I found this cute little side table for only 4 dollars at a thrift store the other day. I've been keeping my eye out for a smaller one for Josh to use as a side table on his side of the bed. I could not pass this bargain up! After I had painted it my favorite off white, I decided to try something a little different. I decided to Mod Podge sheet music to the top of it. Since it was my first time mod podging, I was a little nervous at how it was going to turn out. But once I had finished staining it, I think it came out great! This has been my smallest furniture refinish to date, but yet the most unique one! I'm very proud of this project!
