I Heart Mod Podge!

So I finally made an effort to go out to the store and purchase some Mod Podge. I had a few projects that have been put to side because I did not have any, but now I do, and I LOVE it! I've been wanting to make some coasters for quite some time and found this really easy tutorial here at Two Girls...Being Crafty. It uses ceramic tiles, mod podge, and some felt. I used some cute critter scrapbook paper but you could definitely use photos, sheet music, book pages, old cards, etc... What an easy, cute, and inexpensive project to make to give as a gift or for yourself! I'm sure I will be making many more, experimenting with different kinds of paper materials.

I found this cute little side table for only 4 dollars at a thrift store the other day. I've been keeping my eye out for a smaller one for Josh to use as a side table on his side of the bed. I could not pass this bargain up! After I had painted it my favorite off white, I decided to try something a little different. I decided to Mod Podge sheet music to the top of it. Since it was my first time mod podging, I was a little nervous at how it was going to turn out. But once I had finished staining it, I think it came out great! This has been my smallest furniture refinish to date, but yet the most unique one! I'm very proud of this project!

A New Addition

I have been bugging my mom for quite some time about this farm style sofa table. It has been sitting in my sisters room (she is currently off at college and living in the dorms) tucked away in a hidden nook. Before starting college she used it for a desk. I kept telling my mom that I had the perfect place in my house for it! My sister was home today and I asked her if she ever used it and if I could have it. She told me that she didn't use it enough and my mom agreed and said that I could take it home with me! Of course I was super excited to take it off her hands! Thanks Mom!

I was plannig on refinishing it before displaying it but as soon as I put it in place and added my accessories from this post I was in love! I may eventually refinish it, but for now it really matches my "country charm" theme.

I was very excited to be able to display all of my new vintage glass items! :)

I went to An Affair of the Heart today and look what I came home with! A bird cage! I can now mark this off my wish list. I know it's not old and chippy, but when I saw it I just had to have it!

and of course I had to have the little bird to go inside of it! :)

I have been wanting an old typecase drawer for a while now. After going through my thrift store finidings from the past few trips, I realized that I had this cool thing. It's not exactly a typecase drawer, but has the same details, just not as many. I added one of our wedding pictures and then added the scrabble letters! I might eventually add some more details like scrapbook paper or sheet music etc...but for now it will hang like this. I really like the simpleness of it.

I would say that today was a very productive day! Hope everyone else had an amazing weekend!

Thrifty Finds!

Hey check out my new workspace with the added chippy window! I love it!

Small project that I did yesterday on another Oklahoma snow day. This was an old cupboard door with a picture on it. I was going to make it into another chalkboard but after I painted and glazed the edges, I think I will keep it this way!

I finally made it out of the house this morning to do a little thrifting! I was super excited to find all of this stuff! Everything pictured below I purchased for a grand total of just under 12 bucks!

I am in love with this one gallon jug <3

these two candle holders were only .99 each!

going to use this to make a pretty flower arrangement!

I finally found my first mason jar! It's a mini one, but it's super cute. Below are my glass and ceramic findings for the day!

This lovely set of three was only .99 for all of them! I'm super excited about this purchase!

I cannot wait to go decorate with all of these treasures!

Itching to go Thrifting!

I just love snow days and being able to find things to do and projects to start. Being on a strict budget, I haven't been able to go thrifting/antiquing in what seems like forever! I'm dying to get my hands on some more pieces and accessories for new projects. So since I can't go out anywhere at the moment, I decided to compose a list of the things that I really want to find to incorporate into my house!

My Wish List:

A type case drawer! I love these things! and you can do a lot of different things with them. My parents had one of these at their house for many years while I was growing up. I called them today to see if they hopefully still had it only to find out that my dad had thrown it out a few years ago. So sad!

To do something like this!

Apothecary Jars! I'm in love with these and the look they give for decor! Such a clean crisp look.

An old bird cage. The more rustic looking the better!

An old silver teapot, just like the bird cage, the older the better!

An antique scale! I love when people decorate with these!

An elevated cake stand with a glass lid.

Rustic milk jugs and watering cans.

Lots of these! Mason jars!

To do things like this.

and last but not least, lots of burlap!

to make things like this

and this!

What are some of the things on your wish list?

Blessings,

~Lindsey
